dive time on breath hold dives in much finer detail, using specific
features for APNEA diving. It also allows you to use the
heart rate monitor to check your body's response and compare with
your dive profile .

APNEA divers need specifically designed high-tech
equipment for advanced training:
SCUBAPRO UWATEC appreciates the fact that in-depth extensive
physical and mental training allows an APNEA diver to successfully
adapt the body's breathing and functions to the underwater
challenges undertaken.
The Galileo interval training alarms let the diver concentrate
completely on controlling the autonomic nervous system, including
the heart rate. All Galileos can be upgraded even models without
the HRM feature.
With Galileo-the data and results together assist the APNEA
diver to reach objectives, whatever the APNEA discipline practiced:
competitive or recreational.
APNEA specific features and warnings allow the APNEA
diver even more precision, so free diving can be enjoyed to its
fullest.
Unique Galileo APNEA features--no one else has it:
- Fast Sampling rates for depth measurement and data logging: 0,
25 seconds (4 times per second) for depth sampling and every second
for data logging. These rates are faster than when in SCUBA or
GAUGE modes, due to the different nature of APNEA diving (shorter
dives and shorter time at maximum depth than scuba diving). This
way, the APNEA diver doesn't miss his 'deepest depth.'
- The heart rate monitor allows an APNEA diver the possibility to
view their heart rate, attesting to their relaxation control
efforts. A high heart rate means the diver consumes O2, which
shortens the free dive, therefore the importance of monitoring the
heart rate.
- Galileo can be manually started in APNEA mode, when exact
distance and time are crucial. Other dive computers rely on
automatic activation when the computer starts its descent, but with
APNEA the diver wants to start measuring from the very first 0,25
of a second and the very first centimeter. The diver may even want
the heart rate on the surface--waiting for the ideal before
starting the dive. Button activation is also perfect for distance
use, where depth may not automatically activate the computer. If
the computer is not started manually, it goes on automatically once
the diver reaches 0.8m.
Other Galileo APNEA features:
- Galileo APNEA in dive mode displays: current depth, maximum
depth, heart rate, dive time in minutes and seconds, water
temperature, ascent or descent speed.
- Galileo APNEA in shallow water or surface mode displays:
maximum depth of the previous dive, duration of previous dive,
current heart rate, surface time, lowest heart rate during previous
dive, lowest temperature during previous dive, total number of
immersions during the current recording, total time elapsed since
beginning of recording.
- APNEA Specific alarms and warnings:
Keep track without having to look at the display. All warnings are
audible only and each sound unique:
-Maximum Depth alarm: continuous alarm if descending below
maximum, until ascending at least 0.5m (2ft)
shallower than set depth.
-Depth Increment warning: allows diver to keep track of descent
and ascent progress
-Dive time interval warning: allows diver to keep track of time
spent underwater
-Surface interval warning: allows diver to keep track of time
spent on surface
-Low heart rate alarm: triggers an alarm if heart rate drops below
a set level (available on Sol or with HRM
upgrade only)
-Ascent speed alarm: Ascent speed with APNEA mode is averaged over
a 4 sec. period and alarm beeps
continuously if diver ascent speed is higher than set value.
- Adjust the water density in small increments, for the utmost
precision in depth measurement.
For the APNEA diver, the maximum depth reached may be the main
goal of the dive, therefore the
accuracy of the depth measurement is a very important factor. The
salinity of the water effects the depth
measurement and we assure you get the most accurate one
possible.
- Logbook is adapted for APNEA diving, listing in one session
several dives, including:
-deepest dive
-longest dive
-total duration of the session -total number of dives
-lowest measured temperature.
- Dive Profile: The heart rate monitor results are available,
together with the depth profile. The details on every individual
dive can be seen, with minimum, average and maximum heart rate,
maximum descent and maximum ascent speeds.

At the end of your diving session, check out all the dive data
including time, depth and heart rate. These statistics are
displayed also using a visual graphics making training results
obvious.
